Best Movie - Kaththi

Kaththi directed by A R Murugadoss deals with social issues like water scarcity,gobbling up of water reserves by the profit oriented corporate world,the relevance of farming and farmers and the indifferent media concerned only with their TRP ratings.

Best Director - Santosh Sivan (Inam)

Inam, a war drama movie follows the emotional turmoil of people entangled in an ethnical conflict.It carefully introspects the human angle of helplessness in times of a civil war.And to add an individual with down syndrome in its lead cast and pull off without compromising on the quality of the movie is quite commendable.

Best Actor - Siddarth (Jigarthanda,Kaaviyathalaivan)

Siddarth, as a struggler caught up between his ambition to make a movie and a gangster's menacing ways, and as an individual who uses a girl's love and his sensibilities,for the sake of his career, thereby fooling the gangster is convincing.Whereas in Kaaviyathalaivan,as,Kaliyappa Bhagavathar (relating to Eklavya in Mahabharata).the actor comes  thumps up again as a rags- to-stardom-to-back- to-streets- to-stardom again character,with an inclination to the freedom movement,leading to a riveting climax with the antagonist.

Best Actress - Vedhika (Kaaviyathalaivan)

Vedhika in the role of Vadivambal, does an excellent job as an actress in a drama troupe for singing and dancing abilities than acting.She is also a love struck girl,emotionally torn between her unreciprocated love and her personal relations and a progressively maturing performer.The role relates to Meerabhai,who is in love with Lord Krishna.

Best Supporting Actor - Bobby Simha (Jigarthanda)

As Assault Sethu,a ruthless gangster,excited by the prospects of his life being on celluloid,who shifts between different emotions and related body language in the proceess,Simha is a scream.

Best Supporting Actress - Sukumari (Namma Gramam)

Late Sukumari,the most verstile and under-celebrated actress in absolutely convincing as the grandmother who pleads against  and gives up her life in protest  to the atrocity done to her grand daughter in name of tradition.

Best Script - Sathuranga Vettai

Sathuranga Vettai, a tamil black heist comedy has a brilliant,pacy script written by Director H.Vinoth itself .It explores the greed of people and how it overtakes the common sense.

Best Debut (Male) - Dulqar Salman (Vaayu Moodi Pesom)

Dulqar Salman begins convincingly in tamil,as a person who is affected by a virus which wont allow him or others to communicate orally.

Best Debut (Female) - Catherine Tresa (Madras)

Catherine Tresa makes a commendable debut as a heroine in this movie about the fight between two political group over a wall.

Best Music - Anirudh Ravichander (VIP,Kaththi)

Anirudh switches easily  between melodies to foot tapping music to songs like "Amma,Amma" and impresses music lovers in both the movies.
