Review :

Bhansali takes the story of a warrior who fought over 40 battles and tries to tell a love story with his usual extravagant set decorations and shows the protagonist talking about Akhand Bharat at a time when India was so many countries and each was concerned about either expanding his own empire or surviving giving tribunes to bigger and mightier kingdoms. The director is not fair to the Peshwa (Prime Minister) Bajirao who was primarily responsible for the expansion of the Maratha empire. The dialogues are too dramatic, its silly to imagine that every conversation of the protagonists would be so dramatic and poetic. Then there  is the normal dance-song routine,to be fair to the director, its okay to accept that all these warriors and heartthrobs have a normal side of life which would indulge in normal leisures, but even then it has to be taken into consideration that they also have the burden and respect of their positions which would show in any such leisure activity they engage in,be it dance, song or sports.Nevertheless the songs and the dance steps are good. The battle scenes are also well conceived and well shot and though with the help of visual effects, they are pleasing to the eye.On the acting side, all the actors (both lead and supporting) do a good job,but it is deepika who is the most impressive.

Overall : Grand Opulent Imaginative (Bhansali) Overrun of History
